Hello Omaha,

ALERT...ALERT...Variety posted a review of our film online last week and it was pretty darn nice. Said things like: A tight script, smart casting and sharp direction. Cool. So, if you haven't bought you tickets for Saturday yet, do it! Okay, back to the blog...

I'm happy that our little movie is playing at your fest. We're on the festival circuit and loving it. Unfortunately, my wallet is very thin after my trip out west for the Victoria Film Festival so I won't be joining you in person. However, I hope you'll read this blog and check out our site. Shooting the trailer intro was fun and we just kept goofing around. There are a couple easter eggs on the Trailer page that are easy to find and fun to watch.

You may also want to check out a short film on my website called A Wing and a Prayer. The film stars Christian Potenza who is also a key actor in RRR. You can view the whole film at www.danieloconnor.ca. This screened at Victoria and some other fests.

BREAKING NEWS:

Just found out that the White Sands Film Festival in New Mexico awarded our film the Best Comedy/Drama prize. A very nice honour.

Feb. 2 Victoria, British Columbia

Got three stars (out of 4) and a nice review in the local paper here today. Always a great way to start the day of your screening in a new city.

Looking forward to seeing the film with an audience again. The best part of the filmmaking experience.

If you want, you can see some clips of the movie on MySpace at myspace.com/runrobotrunmovie. Become a friend...

Hope to see you all tonight.

Got here yesterday. Had a great time in Vancouver on a TV show called Urban Rush. Verrry funny hosts. They both enjoyed the film and we had a few chuckles.

This morning was on CBC radio for a quick interview. While I was waiting to go on air I noticed some industry awareds with a familiar name. Turns out it was someone I went to high school with back in Ottawa many years ago. Hope to see him at the show.

Chatted a bit with Gordon Pinsent at the elevator. He's here with his movie Away From Her.

That's all for now. Hope to see a good crowd tomorrow night at the theatre.

Hi All,

I'm heading to Victoria tomorrow for the festival. Looking forward to being back.

If you're coming to the Friday night screening, come to the Whitebird Cafe beneath the Odeon and join me for a drink. The fest is holding an informal get together called Triple Shot Talks where you can chat with me about the film, getting it made, etc. We hope to be able to screen some clips.

Hope you can come out.

Stay human!

Daniel

Running Robot on the Festival Circuit

Jan. 17 Greetings and welcome to my festival blog. Robot is being warmly received at the fests and the invites keep coming. Up next is Victoria, B.C. which I'm attending. I was there with a short film a couple years ago and met some great filmmakers. They had a wicked shorts program that was very impressive. A small festival but very professionally run.

If you're checking out our film, visit our website to learn more. Shooting the trailer intro was fun and we just kept goofing around. There are a couple easter eggs on the Trailer page that are easy to find and fun to watch.

Just found out that Filmthreat.com reviewed the film today and gave it four stars (out of five). Sweet!

Oct. 23 - I'm back in Toronto. Had an amazing time in Austin. Met Sydney Pollack and the awesome Ian McShane from Deadwood. Spent many late nights at the Driskill bar... My second time there with a film and just as great.

Oct. 20 - Vancouver was our world premiere and I couldn't have wished for a better one. A nearly full house, lots of people at the Q&A and a great party afterwards. My Dad and sister attending down from Gabriola Island made it especially memorable. Just found out that of the 268 people at our opening, 178 voted for us for most popular Canadian film. That put us in the top five Canadian films. Not bad for a little, self-financed indie!
